1. Nothing is faster than the speed of light - 186,282 miles per second. The hypersonic missiles only travels est a mere 2 miles per sec in dry air.

2. Directed Laser weapons would snuff out any hypersonic missile's thin structure system containing the propulsion system or interfere with the sensitive guidance systems

3. Just to add:- in order to achieve hypersonic speeds & long distances, the missile would have to be made of light weight materials. Any additional protective layers or shielding would only render it moving even more slowly, thus it would be at the mercy of directed energy beams.

If only the laser system can be further refined and made even more powerful, then Israel's Iron Dome will become obsolete because they are too costly to operate in reality.

I agree with you, but Israeli Iron Dome is on its way out. It is now IRON BEAM, that was successfully tested & even showcased in Singapore Airshow 2024 Feb. It's the strongest concentrated power beam -300kW - currently in World right now.:-



Lockheed Martin is another American company that is currently developing an even higher power Laser system - 500kW, that would vaporize a mere drone within seconds. With such systems, hypersonic missiles will become obsolete in no time, let alone ICBMs.
