I'm probably overanalyzing this, but the whole "being eaten by a wolf" thing is a metaphor for going through sxual abuse. The "losing wool" thing must be a metaphor for losing your innocence and bearing that scar with you, hence why Natsuki would give his cloak to one of the goats - the most damaged one, because he knows exactly what she's been through. Could also explain the cloak itself, it's like clinging onto your lost purity and childishness after what happened, but in the end it will never be the same as before and the only thing you can do is try to heal. I was left kinda confused by the mother, but I suppose that after she lost a child to a predator she killed him and it traumatised her so much that she became obsessively protective of her children. You can notice that after the incident the little goats probably haven't left the house and after Natsuki joined them the mother added even more to the "security system"(more locks on the door, planks covering the window) Edit: why are people mad at me for saying that I overanalyzed this lol. I was just making up a ton of theories about literally every detail in the animation and at the moment it felt like a lot, even tho I didn't write everything down.

@Rain no, it's pretty much literal, aside from some of the symbolism. At the 8:32 mark you can see the wolf/father has his pants pulled down.

It’s rare to see animations that touch on the topic of sexual abuse, let alone, done to a child. The way this is animated is so beautiful, and it is extremely uncomfortable to watch when the father comes in, I don’t even wanna begin to imagine what that’s like for a real child to go through such a traumatic experience, especially coming from someone they learned to trust since they were born. Using the wolf as a metaphor for a predator is fantastic symbolism. This was incredibly well done and I applaud the work that went into this.

This is so beautiful but at the same time, absolutely horrifying. The father taking off Natsuki's clothing and acting like that to him was just revolting, and you portrayed all the symbolism so well. Amazingly done.

The fact that you can see one of Toruku's hoofs at the start inside the wolf makes it even more heartbreaking...

SPOILER: The reason she couldn’t find her eldest son is because he had been fully digested (hinted by the hoof) and died, this is also hinted at because one of the siblings says “Are you really our big brother Toruku? But Toruku was eaten first. So why is his wool still fluffy?”
