What's more interesting is that the heron pulls the bait away from the fish which are too big for the heron to eat, and saves it for the smaller fish

The discipline involved for the bird to realize that he can get potentially more food by sacrificing some bread makes this all the more impressive for me. For it to not eat the bread immediately but save it for a high risk high reward situation shows how complex it's thought process is.
