The pilot, who was the only person on board the single-engine aircraft, was rushed to hospital in a critical condition, according to Asni Wati, spokesman for Bandung's international airport. Spectators screamed when the plane clipped its wing on the runway and tumbled out of control.
Saleh Sudrajat, a pilot at the scene, told local media that the Super Decathlon had been flying too low when it came in for landing. The accident occurred on the second day of the show, which was celebrating the 200th anniversary of the city of Bandung, located 80 miles southeast of the capital Jakarta.
