Singapore discarding China? Total rubbish! Chinese Vice Premier Han Zheng on 29 December met with Singaporean Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat via video link, pledging to jointly fight the COVID-19 pandemic and enhance bilateral cooperation. .... Heng, for his part, said China's entry into the new development stage has brought great opportunities for bilateral cooperation, and the Singaporean side stands ready to deepen all-round cooperation with China and jointly create a better future for the two countries and the region.

You got it wrong. Even after China had plotted to stifle damage Singapore’s economy by with Malaysia where China proposed a canal cutting through Malaysia near the Thai border so ships can cross to Malacca straits from South China Sea without stopping at Singapore. Singapore remain a stanch supporter of China investing heavily in China’s economy even incurring losses to support lost making projects. Singapore would not easily disentangle from China as it fear China’s might. Pushing to gain a global position as a semiconductor manufacturer could be a guide to support research development and manufacture to undermine US embargo to help China gain the technology to produce their own version of improved semiconductor. It’s a matter of survival for Singapore.
