Why parents send kids to learn to shoot is a big question. Is US that unsafe?
Kids that young, especially girls, don't have the strength to control the recoil
Parents just traumatised the kid for life from this incident. She probably reluctant to shoot in the first place
It is simply insane that more Americans are killed by fellow civilians with firearms every year than by Islamic terrorists.
It is precisely because so many Americans own firearms that paranoid parents send their kids to learn how to handle one to "defend" themselves.
