Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong:
“Just a few words in English - to wish everybody a very Happy New Year. We had a very eventful 2008 - many successes and achievements and also troubles around us. 2009 looks like a very challenging year ahead. We are prepared, I think we are ready and confident we work together, we will see through these troubles and we will have a better year in 2010, so Happy New Year to everybody.”
My take: Since when did PM Lee ever “work together” with us ? I thought it’s always ‘they lead, we just follow’ ?
Mrs Lee Bee Wah:
“First of all, I would like to thank Prime Minister for spending his time with us in Nee Soon South here. I would like to thank all the residents in Nee Soon South for being with us tonight. I would like to wish everyone good health, happiness and a brighter year ahead.
My take: I almost puke when the DJ thanked Lee Bee Wah for Singapore’s “success” in the 2008 Olympics which was unfortunately not captured. Pray that Lee Bee Wah kept her mouth SHUT for the whole 2009 and it will not only be a blessing for us, but for the entire PAP itself.
Mr Seng Han Tong:
“Friends, in the year ahead, may I wish those of you who are looking for a job get a good job and those of you who are working do a better job.
My take: Is that all Mr Seng can say ?
Dr Lam Pin Min:
“I wish the young girls will remain young and young couples to continue to make more love so that they can produce more babies for our nation to add to our fertility rate.” (in mandarin)
My take: If one has to spend all the time to work or find work, where does he have the energy and time to “make babies” ? So should we listen to Mr Seng or Dr Lam ?
EDITORS’ NOTE: Judging from the above “second division” New Year messages said by our Prime Minister and his “A” team in Ang Mo Kio GRC, we really have doubts about their self-proclaimed “first division” status. Then again, they may be tailoring their message to suit a “third division” audience.
