A loose metal chain at a Sengkang playground hit the head of a young boy, causing a 3cm laceration which bled profusely. The accident occurred last Sunday.
“His whole head was bleeding and was rushed to the hospital. What if the chain hit his face?” said the boy’s grandfather.
The boy’s family said that the playground has been in use for seven to eight years and many of its components are rusty and worn out.
Said one resident: “There was a chain which was spolit and I had already informed the Town Council.”
Though there is a notice put up by the side asking residents using the playground to take responsibility for their own safety, some residents felt that the Town Council cannot exonerate itself from blame if injuries arise from problems of design or maintenance of the playground.
