SUNGAI PETANI - A man who was shot at six times by a group of gunmen but escaped uninjured and raced his car to the police station in Bandar Puteri Jaya here to seek refuge from his pursuers.
It is learnt that the group had ambushed the 37-year-old victim as he alighted from his car and walked towards his house, firing three shots at him.
The victim ran back to his car and drove off.
In the dramatic car chase, the gunmen fired three more shots at him.
The high-speed chase ended at about 2am on Thursday when the gunmen fled after the victim drove to the police station nearby.
It is learnt that prior to that, the assailants had vandalised the victim's house and smashed the windows.
When contacted, Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Khalil Ariffin confirmed the case and said police were investigating the motive for the shooting.
"We have recorded the statement from the victim," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code as attempted murder.
