US dollar mostly lower in Europe

US dollar mostly lower, gold up in European morning trading

LONDON (AP) -- The U.S. dollar was mostly lower against other major currencies in European trading Wednesday morning. Gold rose.

The euro traded at US$1.4109, up from $1.3976 late Tuesday in New York.

Other dollar rates:

--88.54 Japanese yen, down from 89.35

--1.1114 Swiss francs, down from 1.1275

--1.2065 Canadian dollars, down from 1.2127

The British pound was quoted at US$1.5444, down from $1.5469.

Gold traded in London at $853.75 per troy ounce, up from $838.25 late Tuesday.

美元暴跌 強勢結束

美國零利率時代的來臨，意味著美元強勢的結束。美國政府拼命加碼紓困後，美元最近的升值趨勢也得譜出休止符。

不久之前，美元對歐元不斷翻挺時，許多在危機中還買得起機票的美國人，仍然樂意前往歐洲採購。但聯準會猛烈降息後，局面已全然改觀。聯準會10月底將基準利率降到1% 以來，美元已從1.2330美元對1歐元的高峰回跌12%。

美國聯準會16日把目標利率降到零至0.25%之間後，美元匯價暴跌2.2%，最低觸及1.4147美元兌1歐元的低谷。對日圓匯價同樣重挫1.8%，以88.53日圓成交，是1995年8月以來的逾13年新低。

紐約FX Concepts公司的投資組合經理安斯伯利說：「賣掉美元！日本多年來一直有零利率政策，情況也不怎麼樣。」美國政府14個月來九度降息，並投入1.4兆美元的緊急放貸紓困，卻無力回天，走不出四分之一個世紀以來最漫長、最嚴重的經濟衰退。

追蹤美元對六種主要通貨的ICE美元指數，16日重跌1.9%，最近五個交易日就暴跌6%，是1985年9月以來的最大五天跌幅。

Forex.com的外匯策略師杜蘭說，美元勢在必跌，但應不致很快破底，畢竟目前離1.6038美元兌1歐元的空前低谷還差12%，或許會在1.35至1.40美元間游走。

不過許多分析師說，歐洲央行（ECB）已暗示將維持利率穩定，而美國利率甚至還有可能降到零，歐元匯價仍可能進一步挺進到1.45或1.50美元的水準。

杜蘭說，前一陣子美元在信用危機之際仍能逆勢上揚，主要是投資人相信美國仍是比歐洲安全的避風港。但隨著愈來愈多數據凸顯出美國經濟的虛弱體質，加上紓困要求不斷升高，投資人的信心也跟著瓦解，美元也失去有力的依靠。

President Obama may either be the 1st African American (Black) to make the USA go backwards to 3rd world status and reduced to firesales of all her air-craft carrier fleets or recover her prosperity (doubtful?) before his next term.

Incidentally, which African Leader has ever led their country with all those gold, diamonds, oil natural assets etc after gaining independence since the last century from their colonial masters into greater prosperity for their citizens? Has it ever been in the African cultural mindset to make money or do business as a way of life?

Having said that, I wonder if a Money crazed Chinese President of the US of A would be able to create a prosperous America?
