FEMA orders 100,000 more COVID-19 body bags for $5.1million to prepare for 'worst case scenario' of second deadlier wave of coronavirus this fall
- The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has ordered 100,000 more COVID-19 body bags in preparation to prepare for a ‘worst case’ scenario
- FEMA placed the ominous $5.1 million order for ‘human remain pouches’ on April 21, following just weeks after a previous order for 100,000 body bags
- President Trump said Monday that he expects the coronavirus pandemic will cost the US between 60,000 to 70,000 lives
- However, the death toll in the US had already reached 60,481 as of Wednesday afternoon, with confirmed cases of COVID-19 soaring past the 1,000,000 mark
- A FEMA spokeswoman said the agency has been focused on a ‘worst possible case national scenario’ from the start of the coronavirus response
- The new bags are to prepare for it there ‘should there be any fall resurgence [of coronavirus]’ or if FEMA is required to respond to any other disasters
