US Delays Talks For Trade Accord With Singapore

March 10 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. postponed initial negotiations for a Trans-Pacific Partnership trade agreement with Chile, Singapore, Brunei and New Zealand, as the Obama administration said it needs to set a broader trade policy first.
The Bush administration said in September it would push for the trade agreement, known as TPP, which would end commercial barriers among those nations. A meeting this month to begin talks has been delayed by the Obama administration’s need to “review how the TPP fits into our larger trade agenda,” Deborah Mesloh, a spokeswoman for the U.S. Trade Representative’s office, said.
