<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->I WAS involved in an accident with a taxi on the night of April 16 at a slip road junction towards the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE). I slowed down to give way to traffic on my right and a taxi bumped into my rear.
On impact, both vehicles stopped. The taxi then sped off. I managed to overtake the vehicle along the PIE and gestured to the cabby twice to stop to inspect our vehicles and to exchange particulars. He continued driving. I called the Traffic Police and was advised to take down his licence number and make a police report.
A police report was done an hour later. A week later, a Traffic Police officer called me to confirm if the taxi driver had stopped his vehicle on impact. I said yes. The officer then pointed out that it was not a hit-and-run case as the taxi driver did stop but did not exchange particulars. A month later, I received a letter from the Traffic Police stating that no action was taken and no warning was given to the taxi driver.
My question is can I bump into another vehicle, stop my car for a moment and then drive off without exchanging particulars - and not be charged if there is no casualty? Roslan Abdul Rahim

Most probably this cabbie is either :-

1) an ex-poodle
2) an RC member
3) a running dog informer

....... so unless you yourself is an elite...... the poodles not going to investigate your accident :)

taxi ! no surprise there!

most taxi drivers hooligans, only a small minority are decent and honest

Because no one was hurt/injured in the accident and taxi really have stop but not exchange particular. TP really will not bother because they will have to locate the driver and waste of manpower. TP normally will advise them to settle between them/claim the insurance.
If someone injured or hurt then is very different case. TP must take action.
