An online sting to catch a suspected paedophile by WA police has seen a Tasmanian man charged with grooming a child over the internet.
The 25-year-old man from Acton Park, Tasmania, allegedly engaged in online conversations of a sexual nature with a person he believed was a 13-year-old girl.
It was in fact a WA police officer from the Online Child Exploitation Squad.
Police allege the man arranged to meet the person he thought was a young teenager and had flown to Western Australia from Tasmania.
He was arrested upon arrival.
The man now faces four counts of trying to procure someone aged under 16 for sexual activity.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Monday.
