Two youths arrested for loansharking activities

SINGAPORE: Police have arrested two youths who are believed to be involved in loansharking activities.
The duo are aged 16 and 17.
The 16-year-old boy was caught on Saturday night in Tampines.
Police had received a call from a resident who saw the boy behaving suspiciously at the void deck of a block along Tampines Avenue 9.
Police managed to detain him and seized a sling bag containing items including a bicycle lock, plastic bags with red paint, a plastic bottle with red paint and a mobile phone.
The boy's 17-year-old accomplice was arrested n the vicinity of Bedok North Road on Sunday morning.
Preliminary investigations showed that the 17-year-old provided the addresses of debtors for the 16-year-old boy to carry out harassment activities.
They will be charged in court on Monday.
First-time offenders found guilty of acting on behalf of an unlicensed moneylender could be jailed up to five years, fined up to S$50,000, and given up to six strokes of the cane.
