Two nabbed for suspected loansharking activities

SINGAPORE: Police have nabbed two men for suspected involvement in loansharking activities and consumption of drugs.

The arrest was made on Wednesday at around 2:35 am when officers were patrolling along Sengkang West Avenue.

The suspects, aged 28 and 29 were spotted loitering suspiciously in the area.

Upon checking, officers found suspected debtors' records in the possession of one man.

Both men were also suspected to have consumed controlled drugs.

If found guilty of helping in the business of an unlicensed moneylender, the men may be fined up to S$300,000, jailed for up to four years and be given up to six strokes of the cane.
