Two men face 460 charges each for computer misuse at Marina Bay Sands

SINGAPORE - As a dealer supervisor at Marina Bay Sands casino, Tan Guan Xi had tampered with the computer system to give membership points to two others between 2010 and 2012.
On Friday, the 38-year-old and one of the duo who gained membership points were charged in court with 460 counts of computer misuse each.
Tan was a dealer supervisor when he allegedly knowingly caused an unauthorised modification to the contents of a server by keying in the details of one Yap Kah Hsiang, causing membership points to accrue to Yap.
He allegedly did this 346 times.
Tan is also accused of keying in the particulars of one Tan Bee Heok, allowing the latter to gain membership points on 114 occasions.
Yap, 57, is said to have abetted Tan by instigating him to illegally modify the contents of the server on 460 occasions.
The alleged offences took place at the Bayfront Avenue casino between September 2010 and May 2012.
Both men, who are believed to be friends, were not represented.
They indicated that they would plead guilty and are out on $30,000 bail each, with their passports impounded.
The pair will be back in court on Oct 29.
If convicted, they could be fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed for up to three years on each charge.
