SINGAPORE: Police have arrested two men for suspected involvement in loansharking activities.

The first suspect, who is 46 years old, was arrested on Saturday afternoon.

Police received a tip-off from a member of public that he was behaving suspiciously and performing ATM transactions at an ATM machine around Serangoon Central.

Officers detained him and found on him more than 30 pieces of bank transaction slips, several ATM cards, mobile phones and slips of paper believed to contain debtors' records.

Early investigations revealed that he's a debtor-turned-runner who had assisted loansharks by carrying out bank transfers.

Investigations are ongoing.

Later in the evening, police were informed by a resident that a 26-year-old suspect was behaving suspiciously along a corridor in Yishun Ring Road.

Police detained him and found a mobile phone believed to contain debtors' records.

Police believe he is a debtor-turned-runner who assisted loansharks by delivering debtors' notes.

He will be charged in court on July 25 for loanshark harassment.
