Two in trouble for making false reports to police
Posted: 08 March 2012 1951 hrs
SINGAPORE: Two persons are being investigated for making false police reports on two separate incidents.
The 21-year-old man reported to the police that his house at Bukit Purmei had been broken into and ransacked. He also reported that money could have been stolen.
As for the 22-year-old woman, she reported to the police that she was molested along Lavender Street at 1.50am. Two males were subsequently arrested.
The police conducted a thorough on-scene investigation, extensive enquiries and follow-up investigations for both cases.
Police said many discrepancies were detected and this made the allegations of the two persons doubtful.
Subsequent interviews with both persons revealed that they had concocted the reports.
The man had lodged a false report due to family grievances while the woman had done so over a dispute.
If found guilty, the persons could face a jail term of up to one year, be fined up to S$5,000, or both.
