Two transport operators were charged on Wednesday with giving bribes to a delivery manager of electronics and furniture retail company Courts.

Low Tian Teck, 47, a director of Ding Fong Enterprises, faces 34 charges of giving a total of $275,000 to Andrew Ong Tiong Chiew between May 2008 and February or March last year, while Yap Sze Kam, 48, managing director of SK Yap Engineering, is accused of giving a total of $274,000 to Ong on 33 occasions between May 2008 and January last year.

Ong, 35, then working as a delivery manager at the megastore, was jailed for 10 months and ordered to pay a penalty of $631,200 last month after pleading guilty to 15 charges of corruption.

Low and Yap allegedly gave bribes to Ong in exchange for advancing the business interests of their respective companies with Courts.
