Two arrested for breaking into clinic to steal cough syrup
SINGAPORE: Singapore police have arrested two brothers for allegedly breaking into a clinic and stealing several gallons of cough mixture as well as cash.
Police announced on Facebook on Friday (June 20) that they were alerted to the break-in along Ghim Moh Road on Monday, just before 9am.
They arrested a 21-year-old man at Jelapang Road on Wednesday, and found S$5,000 cash and several bottles of the clinic's cough syrup in his possession. The man's 35-year-old brother was later arrested at Clementi.
Preliminary investigations indicate the men could have entered the clinic through its rear window to steal the cough mixture. Some of the cough syrup was sold off to various unknown parties. The remaining cough mixture and S$7,000 have been seized.
Police say the suspects will be charged in court. If convicted, they face up to 14 years' jail for housebreaking and theft. - CNA/nd
