Two males have been arrested for a series of violent armed robberies.
The duo, aged 16 and 22, committed these robberies in Yishun and Ang Mo Kio estates between November 29 and December 8.
Police said they confronted victims at secluded places and accused them of causing trouble.
They would then assault their victims and take their mobile phones. Some victims were also threatened with a knife.
After a series of investigations, the first suspect was arrested in River Valley.
The second suspect was ambushed and arrested in Yishun Ave 11.
The suspects are believed to be involved in at least five cases of armed robbery.
They will be charged in court on December 12 for armed robbery with hurt, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years' jail and 12 strokes of the cane.
Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division HQ, Assistant Commissioner (AC) of Police Hsu Sin Yun said: "I am glad that my officers have put an end to the crime spree of the suspects who had been terrorising the neighbourhood and hurting the innocent. The police will ensure that they face the full brunt of the law".
AC Hsu also advised members of the public to remain calm when encountering such incidents. They are advised to note down the suspect's description and mode of escape. Thereafter, they should call the Police immediately as soon as it is safe to do so.
