Two arrested, 1.8kg of heroin seized in CNB operation
SINGAPORE: The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) arrested two men and seized 1.8kg of heroin with an estimated street value of more than S$194,000, enough to sustain about 883 abusers for a week, the agency said on Friday (June 20).
At about 9.20am on Thursday, CNB said its officers observed a suspected drug distributor meet up with one of his suspected clients at a coffeeshop in the Sin Ming vicinity. Both of them left the coffeeshop shortly after and returned to their respective units in a housing block in the area.
CNB officers arrested the suspected drug distributor, a 42-year-old male Singaporean, as he was leaving his unit at about 10.35am. About 1,790 grams (g) of heroin and various drug paraphernalia were seized from the unit. Another party of CNB officers raided a separate unit in the same housing block, where they seized about 64g of heroin and arrested the suspected client, a 50-year-old male Singaporean.
Both male suspects are under investigation for drug trafficking, CNB said. If convicted, they may face the death penalty. - CNA/cy
