The National University of Singapore (NUS) has proposed to the Ministry of Education that its tuition fees be revised for the incoming cohort of students.
NUS provost Tan Eng Chye told reporters on Wednesday evening, after a closed-door meeting with about 50 student leaders, that the university is waiting for approval. He did not reveal the amount of the proposed revision.
'The tuition-fee increase, if any, is still not decided yet. We are still waiting for comments from the Ministry of Education and that is why I am not able to announce it today,' he said.
Earlier in the week, student leaders received an e-mail from the NUS Office of Student Affairs telling them that Professor Tan wanted to meet them to talk about revised tuition fees for the incoming cohort in August.
