CHAIYAPHUM – Police are looking for a truck driver whose vehicle mounted a pavement and killed three elderly women waiting to cross the road, reports said.
The three women were killed on a road opposite a temple in tambon Chaturas.
Police found their bodies scattered across the intersection where the accident occurred.
According to witnesses, a 10-wheel truck ran up onto the sidewalk and ran straight into the three women, who were waiting to cross the road. The three women were on their way to a morning ritual at the temple.
Witnesses said the truck was speeding and the driver apparently lost control before mounting the pavement.
Police have pictures of the accident from a surveillance camera in the area and are in the process of arresting the truck driver, who fled the scene after the accident.
The three victims were, later, identified as:
1. Mrs Karbuan Boonma, 70
2. Mrs Chom Banthaokul, 74
3. Mrs Phudson Suangtho, 69
