* trend of career conversion for retired (end-of-the-road) uniformed scholars

in so many yrs of existance in sinkieland, i can't help but notice that there is always a certain trend in shifting end-of-the-road uniformed scholars into politics, needless to say, many other GLCs.

the gahmen like to nickname these fellas "future leaders", and they also go thru all means to spoon feed these end-of-the-road uniformed scholars, like as if leadership requires grooming. truth is, leadership is something u either have, or you don't.

in the military, the scholars had textbook doctrines, directives, guidelines & regulations that they can fall back for their 10yr series model answers. as long as they followed the "bible", nothing possibly can go wrong, except for the micro details concerning freak accidents and/or deaths.

what really puzzles me is that they paint to the public a wonderful picture, that the leadership of these end-of-the-road uniformed scholars are credible, in lieu of their highly decorated fictional military careers, achievements and the long list of crap.

in the real world, regardless scholar or non-scholar, ivy-league or non-ivy-league varsity grad, top rank executives or lowly executives, nobody can say that they were well prepared for the challenges, even more so... in the field of politics, where foolish policies will affect the entire population on the island, while ripple effects affect generations down the road.

when polling day comes, can we honestly entrust our future in the hands of a bunch of end-of-the-road uniformed scholars, who for the bulk of their careers have been followers and less of leaders, who for the bulk of their careers have been "yes" men, who for the bulk of their careers never stepped out of the box to innovate & implement, who for the bulk of their careers were remotely involved in economy & devicing policies to improve their soldiers' livelihood?

on the contrary, while they were happily taking their accelerated route on their uniformed career escalator (not ladder), were responsible for squeezing & tormenting the lives of their conscripts for better results, to make themselves look good. so, if it so happens that they successfully enter politics, and some day hold office as ministers, what are the odds of them contravening the "invisible doctrines" of squeezing singaporeans to pulp?

if these end-of-the-road uniformed scholars really have what it takes to be leaders, it shouldn't be necessary for them to understudy whichever predecessor, nor would it be necessary for them to be in the scene via the comfort of GRC.

dare they call themselves leaders, they should attempt to bite the bullet like true soldiers... run for GE via SMC (mano-e-mano).

Very well written, their succession plan is uniquely designed to ensure that, as long as they remain in pwr, they have the luxury to continue making our lives miserable.

So what if their retired generals were good at what they did in their uniformed careers, it only proves that they r made to trample all over the peasants like stomping elephants. Its not as if the endeavors they undertook in the past made any significant difference for the soldiers (nsmen) on the ground.

All they ever did well enough, in the eyes of the gahmen, was that they were damn good at pushing our citizens towards breaking point.
