Trailer crashes into three shophouses in Chemoh, Perak
IPOH: A trailer driver escaped with a slight injury on the leg when he lost control of the vehicle, causing it to ram into three shophouses at Jalan Kuala Kangsar, Chemoh here on Thursday.
The impact caused the facade of the shophouses, comprising a shop selling fishing equipment, a hair dressing saloon and the other, unoccupied, to collapse. Luckily, no one was in the building.
Ipoh traffic police chief DSP Mohd Rodzi Rejab said the accident happened about 9.30am while Mat Lazim Osman, 51, from Kampung Tunku Husin, Manjoi, was driving the cement-laden trailer from Kuantan to Ipoh.
He said Mat Lazim was believed to have lost control of the vehicle, causing it to skid and veer into the opposite lane before crashing into the shophouses.
Mat Lazim was trapped in the trailer and was helped out by firemen and sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment, he said.
Mohd Rodzi said a Proton Gen-2 car which was parked near the shop was also damaged when part of the structure fell on it.
He said the case would be investigated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - Bernama
