After WW2, China began civil war that Hokkien hero TOP pioneer filmmaker refused to participate and due to his straight forward nature to speak up on the corruption of KMT - that he witnessed during his involvement with KMT in WW2 - he was accused by KMT corrupted officials to be pro communist and was thrown into jail in Kunming.

After WW2, China began civil war that Hokkien hero TOP pioneer filmmaker refused to participate and due to his straight forward nature to speak up on the corruption of KMT - that he witnessed during his involvement with KMT in WW2 - he was accused by KMT corrupted officials to be pro communist and was thrown into jail in Kunming.

Hokkien hero was only released from jail in a sickly state when communist reached Yunnan. But unfortunately due to him being in jail, he already missed the opportunity to return to Malaya and had to remain in China. In the 1950s, CCP targeted him and other Malaya and Singapore patriots that returned to help China fight war against Japan, labeling them as capitalist spies and anti revolution. He was thrown into labor camp and died in a jail in 1959.
