<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->ON DEC 19, my friends and I went to Sentosa for a day of sun and fun. It was a sunny afternoon marred only by a short bout of rain. At 5pm, we packed up and decided to go for the skyride and luge. I have heard a lot of positive comments about the skyride and luge at Sentosa, and was excited about trying them out.
My friends and I went for the 'Luge and Skyride Combo'. However, as my friends and I queued up for the skyride, it started to drizzle. In the middle of the ride, the drizzle became heavier and soon it was raining heavily. When we alighted, we proceeded to the queuing area for the luge. By then, the heavy rain had already wet the ground and all the luge seats. Worried for our safety, we went to the counter to inquire if we could have a refund on our five tickets. To my disappointment, the service staff said that there would be no refund because the management was still running the rides despite the weather.
The denial of refund was a small matter. But running the rides in spite of extremely wet weather shows the management's lack of care and concern for the safety of visitors to Sentosa.
While I understand that it may not be profitable for Sentosa to suspend the rides or to offer monetary refunds to customers, it would be good service to do so. Alternatively, the management can allow the customers to come back another day instead of establishing a hard and fast rule that the tickets are valid only on the day of issue. Eunice Wong (Miss)
