Trader arrested for abusing toddler son
IPOH: A 54-year-old man has been arrested for abusing his 18-month-old son at home in Kampung Datuk Ahmad Said here, police said.
Perak CID chief Datuk Mohamed Dzuraidi Ibrahim on Friday said the self-employed man was detained at 4am on Thursday when he surrendered himself at the Jelapang police station.
The man is believed to have beaten his son with his belt and then slammed him on the bed last Friday, fracturing the boy's right thigh bone.
Mohamed Dzuraidi said the man reportedly returned home after trading on Friday and had a quarrel with his 38-year-old wife. He then vented his anger on his son.
The boy's mother sent him to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital where the injury was detected, he said, adding that the boy was in stable condition.
He said the mother lodged a police report on the incident and the man had been remanded for four days for investigation.
