Trader’s kids kidnapped and thrown into a canal
The 23-year-old man managed to convince R. Muskan Jain and her brother R. Hrithik Jain, the children of a textile merchant, that their regular driver would not be coming and that he would drive them to their school in Ghandipuram instead. The children didn’t know that the suspect wanted to kidnap them for a Rs10 lakh (RM85,000) ransom.
When the children’s regular driver Anbu discovered the children missing, he called their father Ranjith Kumar, who was in Hyderabad on a business trip. Police managed to arrest the suspect after he made a call through his handphone to Anbu.
The suspect later confessed that he had convinced the children that he was taking them for a picnic. The suspect took the children to the Tirumurthy dam, 77km from Coimbatore on Friday. While playing with the children, he suddenly pushed the children into a canal. Both drowned.
