The Temasek Review has sent a letter of demand to YPAP member Eric How to retract the defamatory statements he made about it on the YPAP Facebook on 25 January 2010 and to apologize for it:
To this Eric How of YPAP:
On 25 January 2010, you posted the following remarks on the YPAP Facebook Network:
In your post, you insinuated that we have fabricated the snapshot of the post by “Eric How” because it does not contain a snapshot of the “Mercedes Benz” avatar belonging to the “Eric How” who made disparaging remarks about netizens on the YPAP Facebook on 1 January 2010 and 19 January 2010. This is an OUTRIGHT LIE.
There is actually a simple explanation for the above inconsistency. If you access any discussions on Facebook without logging into Facebook itself, some of the avatars belonging to private accounts will show up as blanks and you will not be able to access their Facebook accounts. Only when you log into Facebook can you see the avatars of these users.
Now try the experiment yourself to verify what we said:
Click on here to access the original Facebook discussion without logging in, go to post #8 and the “Eric How” avatar will show up as a blank:
Now log into your Facebook account and try accessing the same page and the “mercedes benz” avatar will show up:
We have consulted two lawyers in our team who are of the view that your statement is completely baseless, malicious and defamatory which serves the nefarious purpose of casting doubts on the authenticity and credibility of articles posted on our site.
As such, we are demanding you to:
1. Remove the entire post on the YPAP Facebook Network.
2. Issue a formal apology on your Facebook, YPAP Facebook and our site.
3. Make a promise never to repeat these defamatory statements about us again in the future.
If you do not comply with our request within 24 hours, we will escalate the matter all the way up to the YPAP Facebook moderators, YPAP, PAP Headquarters and Facebook itself and you alone shall have to bear the blame for the consequences of your irresponsible, careless and reckless words.
