To be fair... Govt give out baby bonus to help cover the 8k / yr cost of kindergarten education for pre-schoolers b4 they proceed to primary schooling onwards... Generally speaking, primary/secondary schooling are not costly unless loaded parents send kids to independent schools tt charge 1k / mth, otherwise, primary level -> JC/Poly are ok (imho).
Now here is the problem not addressed :

1. Pre-schooling very very expensive... lagi expensive and seems like unavoidable
2. Primary -> JC/Poly ... ok

3. The surge in demands of the educational curriculum (starting from primary level) has made it difficult for working parents to cope on their own, therefore, they end up sending kids for enrichment, tuition, etc... so while the direct cost is relatively low, the indirect cost is very very high... so the story is incomplete... a seasoned politician can get away with avoiding this issue but a greenhorn trying to speak about this issue is like trying to BS the educated public...

So what can we do ?
Improve the level of teaching staff in the current education infrustructure ! Sadly, lots of wayang but very little quality... kids end up coming to parents for help ALL THE TIME ! Principals and Teachers taichi teaching responsibility back to parents... Where has the passion gone ? Of course ! Low pay no recognition and a cheapo golden plaque after 30 years of dedicated service - that should motivate our teachers

... KNN .... TCSS MPs earn more for less !

if you are earning $2K a month , S$15 K per year for university fee is hell lot of money but if you are earning S$15K per month, that is peanut. Electricity and transport ? What do you say ?

Housing affordable, healthcare costs low, education costs low............ it seems there is nothing else for her to do. Since everything is low to her, she for sure wont be fighting for it to go even lower. Anyway, when these costs escalate, the usual official statement will always be " Bo bian, everywhere also the same, nothing we can do" Ditto price of oil, gas, food, water, electricity, flour, cooking oil, sugar, salt... all "Bo bian"... MIWs salary increase also bo bian...
