The famous Toyota total quality management programme have been sited many time as textbook case study for successful supply chain and manufacturing process management.

But in the past few week, the floor mat issue became a accelarator pedal malfunction then turn into a software problem. It is a clear corporate scandal case of of cover up.

You all have to be prepare to see this automotive giant brand go down. The world has forgave Union-Carbide for Bophal, Exxon for the big oilspill in Alaska when business leader came forward quickly and apologise. They manage the PR crisis and gained back public trust over the years.

But the public look for blood in Enron and Arthur-Anderson case because they cover up. Just remember that back then AA was the biggest of the Big 5 and Enron was Fortune magazine most admired company of 2000.

Later today, the president Mr Akio Toyoda will have to be in a congressional hearing in US. Good luck to him. Hopefully the company will not be strip and bought over by Chery and Tata.

They dun just make limousines, Toyota has stakes in other industries. It's just a temporary setback, won't pack up

Dont worry, it will not happen. It is just an USA propaganda sponsored by some interest group.....Last time they also said Ford is going to close shop. But now you see? Yesterday while all counters on Dow Jones were down, Ford was among the few in green....Toyota is part of the Mason group....so the freemason brother will not let it down

Japan will not let it fail.

well said.

Toyota is a flagship branding of Japanese.

Likewise Koreans would not let Hyundai close.

And Singapore would not let Temasek close.

If Japan really closing down Toyota, I think BYD would be the first to buy them out... and Warren would just put in more doughs into BYD to finance the hostile take over...

just speculation, nothing to be taken too seriously.:D

Hope you are right. Political power might save it. But even if the company crawls out of this mess, the brand will be tarnished in this ever-shrinking and competitive industry.

I estimate Toyota will lost about $10b that was small amount compare to the capital Toyota have.
Honda will be in advantage position with the Toyota crisis.

Maybe the YAKUZA could return the protection monies they collected from Toyota? :D

I thought Toyota and Honda are going to release Electricity Cars Globally?

Electricity Cars have been a idea since 20 years ago... but it was mysteriously kept in a low profile.... until recently, and then we didn't hear the news again....

anyone know what is happening about the electricty cars introduction to the world from Toyota and Honda?

Toyota has US$23B cash. Its product pipeline is full of new products.

For those that opine about Toyota's demise - better be careful. Toyota can come back and become a super competitor.

The whole problem with electric cars lie in the battery technology. Batteries are no there yet.

let's hope they solve the batt issue quickly, with tech transfer, my laptop may last much longer

Many people worldwide have not seen this one coming .

USA is going for home grown companies
and home brand since they feel this is the way to go when Obama came into play.
They have too much problems at hand .

If I were them .
I push manufacturing into Mexico, South America and Canada .
Screw the ungrateful Americans from there .
