Towards A Singaporeans' Singapore
1. Eliminate the PR category for long-term residents say over a period of 5 Yrs. They must choose to convert to citizenship (if they qualified) or be revert to social, employment or work permit pass.
2. Gradual removal of all subsidies and priority for healthcare, education, etc from PR category over the 5 yrs to encourage conversion.
3. All NEW male citizens must do National Service (create 3 new categories of NS, eg, 18 to 25 yrs - 24 mths full time, 26 to 35 yrs - 12 mths full time and 36 years and above - 3 to 6 mths BMT or Combat VocationTrg for doctors and specialists)
4. After 5 yrs, only Singapore Citizens can owned HDB flats. All non-residents must unload their HDB flats over a grace period.
5. Impose a hefty surcharge on COEs to discourage car ownership by non-citizens
Else, they can continue to live, work and enjoy our hospitality without SUBSIDIES!
The intent is to encourage them to sink roots in Singapore. We don't want free-loaders that ride on our economic success and balik kampong to enjoy the fruits! There are also several others side benefits ie. alleviate the competition for public housing, prioritization of Singaporeans for access to health care, education, road congestion and recognized the sacrifice of our NS men!
Citizenship Has It's Privilege!
