No wonder the SAF is viewed as a joke in SE Asia. Our highest military award is given out to a Malaysian general. Did this Mat attack a bunker on behalf of the SAF and killed all the enemies of Singapore? NO. Did this Mat risk his life to save Sinkie soldiers under attack? NO. Did this Mat do a Rambo on the Indonesian Navy on behalf of the RSN? NO. So, what did he do to get the highest military award that Singapore can confer? It was For doing his routine liaison job to the Malaysian Army. This guy is some glorified S3. This is in line with PAP SOP to award medals freely to useless fucks who do less than what a normal person would do, eg see Little India riot awards to SPF personnel.
By comparison, The highest military award in the US is the Congressional Medal of Honour. Its never given to a muslim soldier of another country for doing admin work, like arranging for exercise between 2 countries. U have to earn this medal on the field of combat. U have to significantly risk your life (many winners were posthumous), or save the life of your fellow soldiers under fire. Many Medal of Honour winners were wounded in the course of the action that saw them given this award. Before the award is given out, a military panel investigates the action that took place to determine if the award is justified. Now u see why the SAF is such a fraud. If the SAF is a fraud, than so are the generals in it. And that begs the question of what is the $12 billion defence budget for?
Singapore President Confers Top Award To Malaysian Armed Forces Chief
By Tengku Noor Shamsiah Tengku Abdullah
SINGAPORE, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) Chief, General Tan Sri (Dr) Zulkifeli Mohd Zin was conferred Singapore's highest military award, the Distinguished Service Order (Military), by President Tony Tan Keng Yam at the Istana this afternoon.
Guests at the investiture included Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen, Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Osman, Permanent Secretary for Defence Chan Yeng Kit, Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Ng Chee Meng, as well as senior government officials and military officers from Malaysia and Singapore, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.
Zulkifeli received the award for his significant contributions in strengthening the relationship between the MAF and the Singapore Armed Forces as MAF Chief since June 2011.
Under his leadership, interactions between both armed forces have expanded in both scope and depth.
The two armed forces interact regularly through bilateral activities such as Exercise Semangat Bersatu and Exercise Malapura, which celebrated their 20th and 30th anniversary respectively this year.
Both armed forces also work closely together at the multilateral level under the ambit of the Five Power Defence Arrangements, the Malacca Strait Patrols and the ASEAN Defence Ministers' Meeting and the Asean Defence Ministers' Meeting-Plus framework.
These interactions and cooperation have fostered mutual understanding and camaraderie among the officers and men of both armed forces, as well as contributed to regional peace and stability.
Zulkifeli, who is in Singapore for two days from yesterday, called on Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong at the Istana yesterday, and Dr Ng and Lt Gen Ng at the Ministry of Defence before the investiture.
During the calls, both sides reaffirmed the strong bilateral defence ties and expressed commitment to deepen the bilateral defence relationship through more interactions at all levels.
