傳說一代梟雄曹操有72疑塚，為的就是防止被盜墓者盜墓，但是曹操的墓不但被盜，甚至連遺體臉部都慘遭砍去，只剩下頭蓋骨而已，目前大陸中央已經嚴密保護曹操墓，防止再受到任何破壞了。

河南安陽曹操高陵考古隊12日對1號墓進行發掘，除過道上的一把鐵劍外，再沒有其他文物出土，這讓墓主人的身份變得更加撲朔迷離；2號墓中，曹操的臉部更被殘忍砍去。不過，最早發掘的2號墓內多件器物仍然頗有看頭，其中一粒翡翠珠為曹操下葬時嘴含，估價達上千萬人民幣。考古隊已在2號墓西側初步發現有一個陪葬墓群，估計無人陪葬。

一代梟雄曹操66歲死後，據說留下72疑塚，為的就是不想讓盜墓者發現他的墓，但是一切未能如曹操所願，大陸河南的曹操高陵考古隊進行考古工作挖掘時，發現曹操墓室被盜嚴重，甚至受到毀滅性破壞，墓室所有的陪葬品全部被盜走，只留下一把生鏽的鐵劍，而曹操的遺體臉部更是被砍去，僅剩下一個頭蓋骨和後腦勺，遺體還被人從後方墓室拖行到前方墓室。

中國社會科學院考古所原所長劉慶柱日前曾說，「曹操遺骨只剩下後腦勺，臉部全毀，已沒臉見後人」。專家說，曹操在死後的7、800年時間裏，一直被公認為英雄，後來被形容為「白臉奸臣」、遭妖魔化是宋朝以後的事情。

河南文化考古研究所所長表示，「我們正在制定保護規劃，當地政府已經委託中國文化遺產研究院制定保護規劃，對這個遺址進行保護，建立遺址博物館。」

曾為一方霸主，胸懷大志的曹操作夢也沒想到自己死後，遺體還會受到極為殘忍的對待，如今也只能靠大陸中央將他的陵墓設為文化保護區，不讓盜墓者再有機會進行毀滅性的盜墓行動。
