TOC: Even clinic assistants now are filled by Filipinas !!

I brought my wife to see a doctor at this clinic near my place. The Clinic Assistant who used to be a local, is replaced by a Filipino, seen here talking to a Filipino patient in tagalog. For a moment, I wondered if I was in the Phillipines ! Nowadays, even jobs like clinic assistants are taken up by foreigners !

Why not TOK, sounds better right? The Online KopiTiam instead of using other people "TOC" acronym to built your own reputation. I hope Shitty Times is not going to make a laughing stock out of this again, but we always have the tendency to give them amusing news such as this.

Actually the real Hokkien pronounciation is "COR - PI" and not "KOPI", so COR PI sounds more authentic.

No worries, in the future, there will ONLY be ONE TOC. All other copycats will be OUTLAWED. :-)

Nice to see you have created your own "TOC". You certainly have mastered the art of misleading. Will you get the usual suckers to do videos thinking that they are providing independent views. Will you also go along proven lines of fake interviews, etc.

You might one to get the boys that previously engaged to distribute flyers to promote this site as well. How is the aviation industry doing by the way.

Mr Scroobal:

Just leave your wayang mad men alone, they are no threat to your SPH AS OF YET.

This is only the beginning, there will be more happenings in the weeks to come.

wayangparty.com now run 3 blogs and they will be adding a few more soon. TOC for all its worth, can no longer compete with us for readership and eventually....hehe......

That is not very correct and I think you haven't researched well. "Kopi" is the Malay name, not the Hokkien name.

Pure Hokkien language for "Coffee" is "Ga Bi" (also used in Taiwan Minnan language today). Singapore Hokkien puts it closest to "Go Bi" and the Malay name evolved from there. "Cor" sounds the most like "bitter", nowhere near "Ko" or "Go".

Maybe it was really meant to brand itself with the present TOC (The Online Citizen) since "Cor Pi" does not sound like any known language for "Coffee" no matter how you pronounce it.

I think if that was the intention, might as well have just called it "The Online Coffeeshop".

It's written in Hokkien as 羔丕 and pronounced as kopi, same as in Malay. Excuse me, but corpitiam sounds more like a photocopy shop.

why not? Filipinos are very people oriented. Chinese just dont like to serve (only ang mohs with a smile)- the rest are beneath them- even their own kind.

I had a polyclinic doctor Filipino, tremendous bedside manner. Compare this with local doctors - cut and dry- no connection whatsoever.

Precisely my concern, sound like COPYtiam and not quite un-literally in that sense.....hmmm. OK I better stop in case it gets into Shitty Times who are always ready to make mockery out of bloggers.

This guy has no clue about originality, copyright or even a fair go. He is no different from any other pirates and I suppose his article will be worth $5 just like the prirate dvds that you find dime a dozen.

I am anxiously waiting for another fake interview to appear at any moment.

Loved his convoluted angle on how to pronouce kopi.

You are obviously neither local nor Hokkien. Hokkiens (as with all Chinese actually) rarely have words with the "r" sound in it.

The real pathetic losers are not the ones who make mistakes but the ones who try to make excuses for their mistakes.
