Dear Grace Fu,
I read with great disappointment on your comment recently.
I am not sure whether you and your colleagues are either ignorant or plain disillusioned over the comments made by netizens. It takes two hands to clap and that is a given.
You and your counterparts’ statement seemed and perceived to err on the other side. i.e. pleasing or fear to offend the FT rather than pleasing or fearing the locals.
No foreigners are not unwelcome provided they adhere to the local customs and culture. DO you speak ill of your host countries whenever you visit or patronized ?????? I am sure if you do that, you will be lambasted with every nasty comment you will ever received.
We, the local Singaporeans, are the majority and this is our country, period.
The FT you have allowed entry they either adhere or they are free to go elsewhere, period. we don’t owe them anything and vice versa.
DO you allow FT to come into your parliament to discuss and talk about anything NOT within the ambit or the parliament ?? I am sure its a NO No. If you cant then don’t expect the rest of the country to do the same !!! Yes, integration takes time but not at the current speed of immigrations.
Don’t turn on the tap and complain there are not enough buckets to fill up the flowing water. Its never enough provided you regulate the flow in sync with the number of buckets available.
I strongly urge you and your colleagues to come up with real and concrete plans and share with the people.
.
Hachoo !
