TO get back into his wife's good books again, Mr William Taylor, who cheated on her, had to follow her punishment.
He had to wear a sign stating his offence at a busy road junction in their Virginia hometown in US.
Mr Taylor's wife Karen found out about her husband's infidelity when she saw him sending 'intimate' messages to another woman on his handphone, reported the Sunday Telegraph.
When she confronted her husband, he confessed and begged for another chance.
Mrs Taylor then told him what she wanted him to do.
On Friday, he stood looking ashamed on the corner near Tysons Corner Mall with a large home-made sign saying 'I cheated. This is my punishment' draped around his neck.
Mr Taylor, who is unemployed, said his wife had wanted him to stand at the junction daily with the sign for a week.
But after a couple of hours, she called him and told him to come home.
Mr Taylor's punishment drew stares, laughter, and loud honks from motorists.
Ms Carissa DiMargo of WRC wrote on NBCWashington.com: 'We haven't quite decided if this is a publicity stunt for some wacky YouTube channel or a ratings driver for a morning radio station.
'But if it's true, we like it. We. Are. Amused.'
