time to unite n demand scrapping of GRC

why the need for GRC in the lst place? according to lau lee, minority won't be recognised and the majority being chinese wouldn't really wanna vote in a minority (pap) candidate.

why did pap which always win the GE need to play this kiasu and unfounded game?

wasn't the late JBJ a minority candidate who was an indian pitted against malboro tan in tg pagar ward and won not once but twice? if what lau lee said was confirmed true, then the shortie would have won but instead after losing 2 times in a row, he unabashfully got into parleement through the backdoor way of GRC.

if many were to be able to vote at least once in their life time, GRC format has to go n make obselete.

[the grc system is a monstrous affront to parliamentary representation. voters cannot choose the candidates they want. the professed rationale for the system is to ensure that ethnic minority communities are not underrepresented in parleement, since each grc team requires at least one candidate not of the same race. Such a principled endeavour would be praiseworthy if it were not for the fact that JBJ, a minority himself, defeated mah bow tan in 1981 an again in 1984. in fact, the percentage of ethnic minority mps declined relative to the population since the 1988 elections when the scheme was lst implemented.]

if what lau lee said was true then mbt would have long been voted into parleement instead of going through the "backdoor" ushered by GRC.

so that is the real motive of GRC - to make sure profitable minitoot of the regime is guaranteed a place to spin more money for them.
