A large thunderstorm on Tuesday afternoon brought strong winds, heavy rain and even hail to some parts of Singapore.

The weather also caused extensive damage with fallen trees and damage to buildings.

At the All Star Golf Range, structural damage to the facility and uprooted trees have caused the gold course to announce that they will be closed for at least 2 to 3 months to repair the damage.

They explained that the damage is estimated to be about $300,000.

Hailstones were seen falling in the area of Bukit Timah at about 2:30pm and fallen trees had also blocked the road around Turf Club Road.

It was also reported that the storm caused damage to the Turf Club building .

Other areas which reported damages include the Tan Chong Motors’ showroom in Bukit Timah which had its large glass door fall in and several trees and lamp posts nearby also felled.

A glass door at Tan Chong Motors' showroom in Bukit Timah was sent falling after heavy rain in the area today afternoon (Oct 14).
Photos contributed by Stomper Jean show SCDF personnel at the scene, as well as other damage in the area.
She said:
"There was a heavy storm at Dunearn Road, opposite Tan Chong Motors in Bukit Timah, 15 minutes ago.
"Two trees broke at the trunk and a lamp post nearby fell as well.
"The carpark and showroom in Tan Chong Motors were also affected. The glass to the showroom fell."
Bukit Timah is not the only area affected by heavy rain today. Stompers Bella, Jasper and Andy had shared photos of fallen trees and other damage caused by the storm in parts of Singapore.

Reminds me of a golf joke:

Two friends A & B were playing golf at the green one day when the sky suddenly opened. The alarm sounded for all golfers to stop playing and find safe shelter.

Seasoned golfer A coolly switched to his 1 iron and continued playing. B pleaded him to stop but his good intentions were ignored. Worried about his own safety, B retreated to the nearby clubhouse where he watched his friend finish the round in the middle of a thunderstorm.

A finished the last 2 holes and joined B at the clubhouse. B asked A: "Why weren't you scared of being struck by lightning?"

A replied: "Because I know that even God himself can't hit a 1 iron!"
