Three-year-old injured in merciless attack
KUANTAN: A three-year-old boy suffered multiple injuries and a broken leg when three armed men stormed into the home of a couple at a block of flats in Lorong Alor Akar here. Anas Safian Efa Rizal was slashed on the head and hands and one of his thumbs was almost severed in the merciless attack. He also broke his left leg during the assault.

The boy’s babysitter and her husband were also hacked by the intruders, one of whom was armed with a samurai sword, in the 9.30am incident yesterday. Suzziana Mohd Hopiah, 24, was hurt on her head, arms and back, while her husband Mohd Taufik Abdul Razak, 36, suffered head and arm injuries.
Neighbours jolted by the screams shouted for help and called police. The assailants fled in a car and witnesses said they spotted one of the suspects carrying a pistol. Kuantan OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Jasmani Yusoff said the victims were rushed to the Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital for treatment.
Relating the incident, he said the three had gone to the flat, purportedly to look for Suzziana’s younger brother, to settle a misunderstanding over the wife of one of the attackers. “When Mohd Taufik opened the door, one of the suspects started to slash him,” said ACP Mohd Jasmani, adding that the victim quickly rushed to a room and locked himself there. ACP Mohd Jasmani said police have identified the main suspect, said to be from Rantau Abang, Terengganu.
