Three men, aged between 21 and 22, have been arrested for a spate of theft cases committed at several pubic swimming complexes in Singapore.

Since September, police have received several reports of handphones and valuables that were stolen from the benches and seats of public swimming complexes.

These complexes were located at Hougang, Sengkang and Yio Chu Kang.

Through extensive investigations, the first suspect was arrested at the vicinity of St Michael's Road on September 24 at about 8.45am.

Two other suspects were arrested shortly on the the same day at the vicinity of Sengkang and Punggol.

Police recovered and seized the stolen items from the suspects which comprised of wallets, handphones, watches, NRICS, EZ-link and cash cards.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are believed to be responsible for multiple cases of theft committed at various swimming complexes.

These complexes include Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, Buona Vista, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Hougang, Sengkang, Tampines, Toa Payoh, Yio Chu Kang and Woodlands.

The three suspects will be charged in court for the offence of theft.

If convicted, they may face a fine and/or a jail term of up to three years.

The police would like to remind the public to exercise caution and to always use the secured lockers at sports complexes to keep their cash and valuables and not to leave them unattended in the open areas.
