Kindness and heroism prevail in Singapore. STOMPers sent in stories of ordinary Singaporeans who became heroes when they were thrown into circumstances that called for their courage and compassion.

Heroic female cabby to the rescue as motorcycle bursts into flames after collision
A female put her own life in danger to help an injured motorcyclist when his bike went up in flames after a collision with a lorry this morning (July 21).
STOMPer Teo, who witnessed the incident, said:
"There was an accident this morning involving a lorry and a motorcycle at the junction of River Valley Road and New Bridge Road.
"The impact was so great that the motorcycle burst into flames and the motorcyclist was flung at least 5 metres away.
"Lady taxi driver Ms Leong, who was driving behind the rider, had witness the collision. She was such a caring and kind soul, attending to the injured motorcyclist without hesitation. Good Samaritan."
Honest cabby drove from Tampines to Bukit Panjang to return my iPhone
STOMPer R commends the honesty of a taxi driver, who drove all the way from Tampines to Bukit Panjang, even as he was ending his shift, just to return the iPhone the STOMPer had left in his taxi.
Said the STOMPer:
"I would like to commend Mr Kamsani B Mahwan of Comfort Blue Sonata cab (SHA3229M) for his honesty and kindheartedness in returning my iPhone which I had left in his cab at around 10.45pm yesterday (July 20).
"He was already near his home in Tampines and ending his shift, but he immediately drove back to Bukit Panjang where I lived to return me my phone at 1.30am, after he picked up my last futile call to see if I was lucky enough to get someone to answer my iPhone.
"Such commendable behaviour by a public service provider must be emphasized to all. A simple act of honesty like this can certainly brighten one's day!
"Thank you once again Mr Kamsani!"
S'porean girls raise funds for family of man killed in freak accident
STOMPer Hafiz is touched by the kindness of two Singaporean girls, who are asking for donations on Facebook to help the family of the man killed when a crane smashed into the back of a bus.
Said the STOMPer:
"I would like to bring to your attention two kind Singaporeans who are raising funds for the family of the man who was killed in a freak accident, when a crane mounted on a lorry belonging to a landscape management company smashed through a double-decker bus along Bedok North Road on July 15.
"The man, Ahmad Bin Lispa, died the next day on July 16.
"Two girls, Joyce Tay and Shen May, have created Facebook pages to help raise funds to support the family which Mr Ahmad has left behind.
"His wife is left with their four sons, two of which have kidney problems, and the youngest son is still in primary school.
"Mr Ahmad was the sole breadwinner of his family."
