Three armed thieves nabbed after high-speed chase
KOTA KINABALU: Four theft suspects tried to attack policemen with samurai swords and Rambo knives after they were cornered following a high-speed chase.
One of the suspects was shot in the thigh when the policemen opened fire in self-defence.
The policemen then overpowered him and two other suspects, while the fourth escaped.

Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib confirmed the incident.
The four thieves had earlier broken into an unoccupied house in Jalan Apas, some 11km from Tawau town, and left after taking some valuables.
Acting on a tip-off, the five-man police party headed to the house in an unmarked vehicle and spotted the four suspects speeding away in a car at 8.15pm. The police then gave chase.
They fired several shots at the tyres of the speeding car before it stopped and the suspects tried to attack the policemen before they were overpowered.
