KUALA LUMPUR: A group of thieves failed to cut open an automated teller machine (ATM) at a mosque in Jalan Sentul here.
The mosque's caretaker noticed the ATM had been burnt yesterday.
Sentul OCPD Asst Comm Zakaria Pagan said police found two gas tanks and a sling bag, which contained tools.
"The group used oxyacetylene blow torches but failed to break into the ATM," he said.
ACP Zakaria said police had classified the case under Section 379/511 of the Penal Code for attempted robbery.
"We are trying to recover CCTV footage from the scene," he said.
