Thief gets nabbed after returning to crime scene
Lianhe Wanbao
A man decided to patrol a mall to look for a thief and succeeded in nabbing the criminal.
Liu Zhong Fa (22, hair salon apprentice) had his belongings stolen when he was at Jurong Point mall on 31 January.
He had lost his bag while using the toilet in the mall.
He explained that he had a tummy ache that day and was using the toilet after he hung his bag on the toilet door.
"Suddenly, a hand reached into the cubicle and snatched my bag!" he exclaimed.
"I was very shocked and just as the thief was fleeing, I saw that he was wearing a pair of blue sneakers through the gap under the toilet door."
By the time Liu managed to put on his pants and run out of his cubicle, the thief was no where to be seen.
Later on, he consulted the mall's security office and saw what the thief looked like.
It was a man wearing a white shirt and white pants, and he could be seen running away with Liu's bag.
Indignant at losing his belongings, Liu decided to return to the mall frequently to look out for the thief.
A mere two days later, at about 9pm on 2 February, Liu spotted the thief in the mall wearing the exact same clothes as before.
Liu gave chase and together with five others, subdued the thief outside the NTUC Fairprice Supermarket.
On top of nabbing the thief, Liu even managed to find his stolen mobile phone on the man.
