Sane letter like this will never reach the mainstream papers for the uninformed voters to read and juxtapose.

This truth is out there, who is creating another singapore just for themselves at the expense of the locals.

Globalising singapore is just a political ruse. New citizens are just a tool, nevermind the extinction of the locals.

Maybe a smaller S'pore population would be better

I REFER to the article, "Crunch time for PMETs: Money no object, but mindset is" (Feb 13), by Mr Aaron Low.

It is sad to note that many PMETs - professionals, managers, executives and technicians - the group which form 51 per cent of our labour force, are now jobless. While we are mindful that protectionism is not applicable in today's globalised world, we need to ask ourselves if we have accepted too many foreigners in a small country like Singapore.

In the early 1970s, our Government advocated the "Two is enough" family planning policy so that parents could better cope with the material and psychological needs of their children. Similarly, the Government could better maintain social stability and provide its people good governance with a smaller population.

However, looking at the current dire economic situation and how many of our very own local talent - mainly the PMETs - have to bear the brunt of job losses and retrenchments, it is apparent that a population size of close to five million is beyond what Singapore can cope with.

The clock cannot be turned back. Singapore has the potential to be turned from a tiny red dot into a GIANT old aged home in the near future.

That is why you do not need rocket science to deduce the reason as to why so many qualified and educated foreigners are "encouraged" to work and settle here as citizens and PRs.

The paramount reason is the extremely low birth rate and the increase in the number of aged Singaporeans coupled with the increase in the number of singles and wretched divorcees here.

if there are too many retired people vs working people, the country will crumble.

but i agree that, there are too much FT/FW.

all singaporeans low birth rate?

we have to ask what is "two is enough" during the old days?

another thing, we also must ask the local malays what is low birth rate?
people should look around at bedok --south or north.

PAP should show the statistics of the population in different races.
importing FTs only creates another race, more tensions, more social problems.

dare to learn from the malays--this supposed to be the message, give due credit to the local malays when it is when comes to having more babies.

low birth rate? learn from the friendly local malays !

Two is enough has caused this aging problem, however the Malays are doing a good job in singapore.

learn from the malays how to have more babies.

not all singaporeans having low birth rate.

By importing more FT can solve this problem? ask yourself.

most FT who work here will want to go back to their county one day. and those take up citizenship also not producing more than two or remin childless.

most PR will sent their children back to homeland for education to avoid NS. just ask your friends or worker around your company and most FT are not shame to tell your their plan.

so can this policy not only donly work but will cause more aging problem in futures.
