during my parents and grandparents era, life was so simple. even though there was much hardship, the word "subsidy" was totally not audible. it wasn't even heard of.
when one fell sick and went to see a doctor, if he had not enough money to pay, the doctor just kindly attend to him for free with all medications provided. he even advised the poor patient to return for consultation when he was well just to be ensured. all for free. the paitent usually would return not to seek consultation but to gratefully thanked the doctor. he wouuld usually brought along with him fruits that he harvested from his humble attap house or poultries like chickens or ducks neatly bounded to present to the doctor as a gesture of gratitude.
now as our nation evolved, everything is money first. if u don't ve money, then don't talk. no money, no talk. just talk to the hand. the present day has lost those intrinsic kampong spirit. the spirit which each help their fellow man when in need.
the present day gov doesn't really help. they want u to pay and be "responsible" for yourself. now who doesn't wanna be responsible for himself? it's deprecating to ask for help. but does one who's desperately poor, needy and sick have a choice not to ask for help?
there something terribly wrong with our gahmen. everything they highlight would eventually means burning a hole in our already quite holey pocket. pays are stagnant for a very long time but the necessity expenditures aren't. school fees are up. medical fees up. transport fees up.....whatever u name it, it's up and stay up.
then u quiet down and think. think really hard. why do all those necessities gotta be driven up? who or what is behind all this insane escalation?
who else? our gahmen! our bloody avaricious gahmenn!! then they begin to play the goddess of merciful when in actual guise they are kuanyew, god of merciless. they rack up all the prices, then they invited this popular word "subsidy" and held the whole nation beholden to them in deep gratitude.
how could this be? the zillions of reserves they hoard? the trillions of returns they profited from their long term investment? their so called very shrewd and profitable glcs? the 7%gst that cover everything beneath the sky here?
i can only see lots and lots of money going into their pockets but the amount going out appears to be a miserly trickle.
it contradicts to everything they boast and brag. i just cannot trust them.....as long as they are hoarding my cpf and refuse to return me when it's due. how could i trust them holding my life saving ransom and then hypocritically paying me trickle of monthly allowance. this is so absurd!! it's my money and i m getting this little which shall be easily sucked back by them.
when shall i be free? when? i really wonder........
